Traditional Oak Frame Construction

For centuries, oak has been the heart and soul of Britain’s most
beautiful buildings. English Heritage Buildings is leading the way in
the revival of traditional oak framed construction, combining the
very latest technology and centuries old carpentry skills.

Whether working on bespoke buildings or traditional builds we
only use the finest quality, green, unseasoned oak. This means
that as the timber contracts, the joints tighten and the structure
becomes progressively stronger. This incredible strength allows
the construction of light-filled, open living spaces without the
need for internal, load bearing walls.

Oak is not only beautiful, it is also the ‘green choice’, as all of
our timber comes from managed woodlands, where two or
more trees are planted for every one felled.
